My father’s Swedish ancestor, 1772, David af Sandeberg (David of Sand Mountain). Honored for trading voyages to Canton, China. Eventually the Director of Swedish East India Company, (a very profitable company at that time). His descendants have permission to use this crest for themselves.
I began visiting Taipei in 2002 just days after the SARS problem was over. My guide was a female journalist I’d met in Australia, via mutual friends, the previous year. In 2002 we attended an International Shark Conference in Taipei. That was where my Chinese name originated. The ‘sand mountain’ associated with the above crest – or ‘coat-of-arms’.
